Senior Citizen Welfare Association,HUDA Trade Centre (SCWAHTC)
Welcome to SCWAHTC
Context and Formation:
In the context of improved healthcare and socio-economic conditions, life expectancy has significantly increased, resulting in a notable rise in the senior citizen population. The global trend of rapid aging, particularly among individuals over 85, is evident, with approximately one million people entering the super-senior status each month.
In this context, a modest initiative was launched in September 2018 at the HUDA Trade Centre in Serilingampally, Ranga Reddy District, Telangana, leading to the establishment of the Senior Citizen Welfare Association and registered under 'The Society Registration Act' with the registration number 1652 of 2018, effective from September 24, 2018. The association aims to unite older individuals without regard to caste, creed, economic status, or political affiliation. Our focus is on nurturing social connections, sharing experiences, celebrating joyous moments, and mitigating feelings of isolation and neglect in the later years of life.
Objective of the Senior Citizen Welfare Association
The Senior Citizen Welfare Association is dedicated to fostering a sense of community among older individuals, transcending barriers of religion, caste, creed, economic or social status, and political affiliation. Our mission is to create opportunities for social interaction, friendship, and the exchange of knowledge and experiences, thereby alleviating feelings of solitude and neglect that can accompany the later stages of life.
We are committed to share about the physiological, psychological, and sociological challenges they may face, empowering them with awareness and understanding of their circumstances.
Furthermore, we advocate for the development of innovative welfare programs and schemes by both government entities and society at large, recognizing that the well-being of older adults is a collective social responsibility. By harnessing the expertise and experience of senior members, we aim to contribute positively to society, initiating and implementing social-service projects either independently or in collaboration with other organizations. We also strive to raise awareness among the public and our members about the rights and responsibilities associated with active citizenship.
The present executive committee is consttuted with 11 members.
